It's coldest after civilization falls
The sword always preceds the tower
Snake room with urn, 9 metal disks–geyser of lava, skull in swamp, frozen hand in ice, crumbling cityscape, serpent swallowing tail, snowflake over mountain, iron tower, cracked sword over flame, shattered mountain. Message in this room: “It's coldest after civilization falls”. So trying to work around the correct order of the riddle:
geyser of lava, skull in swamp, frozen hand in icy river, crumbling cityscape, serpent swallowing tail, snowflake over mountain, iron tower, cracked sword over flame, shattered mountain
“A blizzard precedes the ultimate fall”
“From swamp, to lava, to river”
“Hell is led by the sword but the serpent rules from it's bowels”
“It's coldest after civilization falls”
We are ret-conning the last part of last session because Steve wasn’t feeling well and fucked up telling of the riddle / disks, so we are starting again at the end of the final fight searching the smashed vase to find 9 copperish disks ~3” across. In the language of Baator scrawled on the floor under the vase: “It is coldest after civilization falls”. In the following hallway after this room, Aepheus finds another message: “The sword always precedes the tower.” After heavy debate, a failed solve attempt by Reginald and Aepheus, Brunyr manages to correctly orient the tokens. The door opens, revealing a final hallway holding a final message: “The city falls beneath the mountain.” Gee, thanks. Beyond this door, the final room, containing 3 chairs facing the wall. The same mysterious voice relays that we must save the realm of Baator, as the 3 of us are linked via an ancient lineage. The final door of the dungeon opens leading into a foggy area, teleporting us to a point in the Outlands.
