Born of unusual circumstances, Brunyr is otherwise usual in life. He is a wild and brash young man who desperately seeks adventure, away from the mundane day-to-day life in Faerûn and to following in the footsteps of his adventurous mother. He has informal combat training from his mother, who has experience as an adventurer and personal guard in her younger years, and formal clerical training from the priests at the temple of Torm
Brunyr is a lean, slender figure standing 5'8" tall and weighing 165 lbs. He has soft green eyes, a warm-pale skin tone, and medium length black, wavy hair that is often kept out of his face by a headband. To conceal his Tiefling nature he will often tuck the tips of his pointed ears under his headband. He keeps a leather, side-slung satchel with him to keep his religious texts and his tomes filled with doodles and drawings of nature.
The only child of the single mother of the Cask-Crusher family, Brunyr was quite the handful as a child. He was independent from an early age, fearlessly wandering around the homestead and playing with the local flora and fauna. Brunyr continued this behavior into adolescence; he would frequently take "side-quests" while running errands for his mother, such as taking the long way home by circumnavigating the nearby lake instead of the direct path, or by going to hunt in the elevated regions of a nearby mountain instead of in the bountiful forests close by.
Brunyr always knew there was more to explore of the world, and especially after his time with the priests of Torm, there was more he could give to the rest of the world.
Brunyr is the only child of a single mother, Beth Cask-Crusher, and an unknown father. As a child he would ask about his father, but quickly learned that it was not a topic that his mother would ever openly discuss. Brunyr was able to deduce from the ridicule of children he would play with, and glances from town elders, that some of his physical traits were different, and that his father must have also been. . . different.
He has learned to keep his inhuman features, his pointed ears, hidden whenever around people, not wanting to bring any additional unwanted attention to his true nature. Luckily, Brunyr has a knack for talking his way around situations, often changing the tone of a conversation if his nature or appearance gets brought up. Even when he is not trying to deflect from his appearance, Brunyr is a smooth talker; he seems to know everyone in town and is able to banter with anyone and anyone at a moments notice.
The only family that Brunyr has known was that of his mother; his father was never present in his life, his known grandparents had passed before his birth, and any extended family were "over the mountains in a distant land" as his mother would say. His bond with his mother was stronger than any; while strained in the earlier teenage years, the two almost have more of a close friends dynamic rather than a mother and son.
While some of the local towns girls have displayed interest in Brunyr, he has never found any to be interesting. They all seemed too settled and, well, "plain" to him. No one seemed to share his sense of wonder for the world.
